How to convert a salary to an hourly wage
Divide the yearly salary by the hours you work in a year: hours per week times paid weeks per year. A full-time year is 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours, so a quick rule is that each $1 an hour is about $2,080 a year, and $50,000 is about $24 an hour. Going the other way, multiply the hourly wage by 2,080.
| Salary | Per hour |
|---|---|
| $40,000 | $19.23 |
| $50,000 | $24.04 |
| $60,000 | $28.85 |
| $75,000 | $36.06 |
| $100,000 | $48.08 |
| $150,000 | $72.12 |
Questions
Should I use 52 weeks or fewer?
Salaried jobs usually pay for holidays and vacation, so 52 weeks compares fairly with an hourly job's pay. If you're comparing against an hourly job with unpaid time off, use the weeks you'd actually be paid for there.
What's my salary after taxes?
That depends on your state, filing status and deductions. The paycheck calculator works it out for every state.
